Denver might be known for its mountains, but there are plenty of great lakes for water skiing within a short drive. Here are a couple of options that combine thrilling water sports with delicious lakeside dining:

Grand Lake: Often referred to as the “Switzerland of America” due to its stunning scenery, Grand Lake is a great choice for a day trip or a weekend getaway. The largest natural lake in Colorado, Grand Lake offers some of the best water-skiing conditions in the state, with calm waters and plenty of space to spread out.

After a day of carving up the waves, head to the Grand Lake Marina for a lakeside meal at the Marina Grill. With stunning views of the lake and a menu featuring fresh seafood and Colorado classics, the Marina Grill is the perfect place to relax and refuel.

Dillon Reservoir: Located just west of Breckenridge, Dillon Reservoir is a popular spot for water sports of all kinds, including water skiing. The reservoir is surrounded by stunning mountain scenery, and there are several marinas that offer boat rentals and lessons.

After a day on the water, head to the Frisco Bay Restaurant for a delicious meal with a view. The Frisco Bay Restaurant offers a wide variety of dishes, from fresh seafood to steaks and burgers. They also have a large patio with stunning views of the Dillon Reservoir.

Here are some additional factors to consider when choosing a location for water skiing and lakefront dining:

  • Distance from Denver: How far are you willing to drive?
  • Lake size and conditions: Some lakes are better for water skiing than others. Consider the size of the lake, the wind conditions, and the presence of any hazards.
  • Availability of boat rentals and lessons: If you don’t have your own boat, you’ll need to find a lake that has rentals available. Some lakes also offer water skiing lessons.
  • Type of dining experience you’re looking for: Do you want a casual lakeside cafe or a more upscale restaurant?

With a little planning, you can find the perfect spot to enjoy a day of water skiing and lakefront dining in Denver.
